How can I transport my bakes?
Delivery is available upon request. The cost depends upon the size of your order and distance for delivery from our location in Montville. We always recommend delivery of a cake with >1 tier. If you decide to collect your order from our location in Montville, we recommend that cakes are ALWAYS transported flat on the floor of the car (either in the passenger footwell or boot), the AC is cranked up high and you take all corners slow and brake gently!
How far in advance do I need to place my order?
While we will always try to assist with an order, we do place limitations on how many orders we take for a given week to ensure a high quality is always delivered. Some smaller orders may be able to be processed within 48hours while celebration cakes require a longer timeframe and for large events we would recommend booking up to six-months in advance. To avoid missing out on getting a Whimsical Baker cake for your event, but unclear on the specifics of your order, you can reserve that date by paying a “save-the-date deposit”.
How do I cut such a tall cake?
Our cakes are made with 4 layers of cake with delicious filling in between and are generally 7inches tall. Each cake is best cut in a slice as shown in the diagram below; each of these sections are then cut further in half horizontally so each portion will contain 2 layers of cake. The width of a portion will be determined by whether the cake is to be served as dessert (generally 1in x 2in x 3.5in serve) or coffee serve (1in x 1in x 3.5in).
Why should I order from the Whimsical Baker?
All of our orders are delicious and baked fresh to order using beautiful seasonal ingredients. Where possible I source locally including using Maleny Dairy products, local organic fruits and eggs from our own free ranging hens!
We operate out of a commercial kitchen, have Public Liability Insurance, hold a Food Business Licence issued by the Sunshine Coast Council and a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate. These measures should provide you with reassurance that your order will be prepared safely, and to appropriate food hygiene standards.
